BIRTHDAY ROAD TRIP

Last week, we drove up north to Oregon to watch a college football game. Its not just any game, its Washington State Uni. Cougars against Oregon State Uni. Beavers. Go Cougs!

We left on Friday, which was on my birthday. 🙂 img_8013

And we decided to take the coastal route, I101 which was so beautiful. It took a little longer than the route we usually take up to Oregon but so much beautiful and scenic.

oh so much caffeine, I’ve never drank this much caffeine in one day, but it was kinda fun! 🙂

img_8063

We stopped at Bandon, Oregon for late lunch/early dinner. Fish and chips for the win. img_8079 img_8080

img_8285

we did not get to our hotel until 8. and not til 9 to eat birthday cake which is pretty late for our family normal birthday cake eating celebration. 🙂

next day, we went downtown Albany, Oregon for a warm-up trick or treating.

and didn’t last til just after midnight. it was so much fun, Ava took a lil nap toward the end in the middle of the loud crowd.  img_8118

The next day was rainy and we started driving back. They played with their candies in the car which kind of save the day (long car ride).

img_8159

It was a short get away but its always good to break the usual routine and change the view. 🙂 I at least felt so refreshed, the Albany/Corvallis town in Oregon are two beautiful little towns. We drove back thru little farm towns, green beautiful landscape, kinda got me thinking about the olden days. Peaceful and Simple Life!

Until next time!

We are already planning on our Thanksgiving break roadtrip. 🙂

Finding Good in Bad Situation!

Hello and Lenwo! I took a break from writing here for a while now since we moved to our new place. Same city, new house! And a lot of things had happened since then, the school started, we have a 3rd grader, 5th grader, an 8th grader and a home preschooler. 🙂 they are growing up way too fast. :- pretty soon, Ava will start school too and I will be home alone, what am I going to do with myself?! I don’t know yet, and its kind of sad to think about it. 🙁 I told them all the time to STOP GROWING, but they won’t! 🙂 img_6062

on a happy note, we are all settled in our new place now. I sure believe in the saying that goes, “Everything happens for a reason!” its a FRESH NEW START!

dsc_0807

It took us 3 weeks to find our new place. And during these time, we literally live out of our suitcase and backpacks, and it was kind of fun in someways. 🙂 We packed our day to day clothes and just kept hopping from hotels, vacation rental houses, and AirB&B rentals. Despite all these moving around day by day, I can say the least that its definitely fun and refreshing. Its just what we needed to do as a family.  We even took a little trip up to Oregon and spent couple days there.

img_5641

The kids love staying at hotels, but Ava shows the most excitement. 🙂

img_5740

This little town called Trinidad is very beautiful. We spent few nights there, waking up to ocean view every morning, and just walked down to the beach.

And then the last place we stayed at was like a farm house. It was Tyler’s colleague’s Airbnb rental and her husband. There were fresh eggs, apples and pears, garden salad, chickens and dogs, and we even got to help make pressed fresh apple juice. God Bless this couples’ heart for their generosity and kindness.

We spent most of our nights sleeping together on the floor at this house, which was so comfortable and cozy. We go island style here. 🙂

I feel so Grateful for all the people who reached out to us during that time. I was reminded again of how Good God is. He has plans for us, and if we give our all and believe in him, he will take care of us. God is Great!

And just like that, we have a place to live!

Reminder of the day: BE POSITIVE!

Summer Pictures

our first summer here in north coast Cali was kind of slow and random. we had a summer to do list and pretty much did MOST of them.

Then right in the middle of summer, the boys left to Kosrae to visit family. and while they were gone, we spent most time reading, baking cobbler, skateboarding, meeting friends at the park, crafting, going to the store and just hanging out.

Chicken chili and Blackberry Cobbler

I just made chicken chili for dinner, and it was surprisingly GOOOOD! for so many reasons. first of all, I know this picture does not look that appetizing but its the only picture I took after realizing its the best chili I’ve ever made.image

So all the reasons for this chicken chili post; I rarely make chili in general, but today I just craved for it. I even thought twice about making it thinking the kids won’t eat it. But I was sooo wrong about that part. They even went for second serve. Usually we have leftovers on dishes I make for dinner but I guess its that good there’s not one scoop left. 🙂 I still think the secret ingredient that really make this chicken chili savory was the FRESH BASIL FROM OUR GARDEN! 🙂 it really gives a nice balance taste to it. 🙂 the recipe is from food network i googled but i made little adjustments.

CHICKEN CHILI

  • 1 piece of chicken breast
  • 1 pork sausage
  • 1/3 cup diced onion
  • 1 15.5 oz black chili beans
  • 1 14.5 oz diced tomatoes with green chili
  • 2 tsp chili seasoning
  • 1 tsp seasoned salt
  • 1 tsp each salt and pepper
  • 4 fresh basil leaves minced

its blackberry season. better yet, its free blackberry season where we live. there’s blackberry bushes everywhere, in our backyard, on the side of the trail close to our place and even on the side of our road. But, the only down side is that we need the rain to wash off the dust on the ones by our dirt dusty road. 🙂

anyways, we picked these this morning because I wanted to make blackberry cobbler. I just google blackberry cobbler and betty crocker popular one came up, so that’s the one we tried and it was sooo good esp when we put french vanilla ice cream on top while its still warm. Yum!

image

it was a little hard to stop them from eating em so we can make cobbler. 🙂

image

we found a pretty easy yet yummy recipe. so easy the girls helped me make it.

we added just a few strawberries that Mashell chopped up to the blackberries, and Liana mix them up with sugar and a squeeze of a half lemon.

This looks really good

This mini chef is in training. fun baking with them.

image image

Mashell had an idea of swirling it up to make a marble effect.

and ice cream on top. it was tart and sweet from the ice cream. it other words, its PERFECT! HAPPY FACES!
