Today was a home day for me and Ava, that means we don’t have a to do list to follow but we stay in our pajama all day doing whatever we wanted to do cuz we don’t have this kind of day in a while since our family trip. It’s been swimming lesson every Tuesdays Thursdays and Fridays for the girls, baseball practice on Tues/Thurs for T, Tyler’s night class on Tues/Thurs and Zumba for me on Mon/Wed.
So, we watched tv, played outside, I blogged, we painted rocks or for Ava more like mixing colors in the water. 😉
we were too comfy..and the kind of comfy that made me don’t even think about dinner. 😉 until I realized I only had 1 hr to get dinner ready before Tyler leaves for his night class. ?
Somehow dinner was made and it was pretty good. Pan seared tuna steaks and tuna pasta salad with rice.
This tuna salad was a throw-all-crunchy-veggies-you-have kinda salad. So I chopped up green onions, red onions, orange mini peppers, cukes and shredded carrots. One can of tuna and 2 cps cooked pasta all mixed together with mayo. Pretty delish!
It was a good rest yet fun and productive day after all. 😉
we started celebrating Easter two weeks prior to Easter Sunday and its all because of Ava. She’s been begging to dye eggs and do egg hunt.
since Ava is so obsessed with Shopkins, (little figurines) they are so small they fit in the plastic eggs, so I we used them over and over again.
she had a lot of fun and this is what we do when the kids goes to school.
and then we did something a lil different with the big kids. instead of chocolate and candies in the plastic eggs for surprises, Tyler and I wrote something on a piece of paper and put it in the eggs, hide them and have them found it. something like, an ice cream treat with mama, a movie date with mama, a 15 minute massage from papa or sleep with mama on her bed. 🙂
and then Easter Sunday. I love this picture a lot.
the church did an Easter egg hunt too. so they brought back some more surprises.
Here’s what we had for dinner: fried sweet potato, shrimp and salad.
Tyler has his spring break, so we decided to go to Portland/Vancouver area. I didn’t know these two places were state borders until I google mapped it. 🙂 I’ve always wanted to go to Portland to see what everybody’s talking about and plus my cousin lives in Vancouver so it works.
We left on Sunday, right after Mashell’s softball skills assessment, and here’s a first picture of the trip I took of my beautiful lovely flowers I brought for my cousin.
It was raining and gloomy when we left. Half hour or so into our drive, the rain started pouring like crazy and the fog was so low and thick we couldn’t even see more than 50 ft ahead of us. It was scary we almost turned around but glad we didn’t. 🙂
We didn’t make it to Portland we just stop in Roseburg. The kids swim in the hotel pool and that’s always something they look forward to on our road trips.
Next day, we stopped at Voodoo Doughnut in Eugene. They had all diff kinds of ’em. Just look at the pix.
and just like that we’re in Portland/Vancouver. I am so glad we live in a pretty small town, because I cannot handle the craziness in a big city, mostly traffic. That’s my first impression of the city. 🙂 But other than that, food was great. First restaurant we ate at was very close to our hotel. Its called Sushi Chiyo and its a train rolling sushi. It was so fun to see the sushi rolling and you just grab whatever you like, the kids had fun watching it and grabbing plates, they might have gotten more than what they can eat.
then we went to my cousin for dinner, we had some Kosraean food and it was good. last time we these two boys saw each other was at my dad’s funeral back in 2005, so 11 years later. so fun and refreshing to catch up with my cousin and her kids.
a lil comparison here. T on the left and his cousin Paul on the right. (stop growing kids) 🙂
this was a fun evening. Thank God for bringing us together again (with more kids) after all these years.
the next day, my cousin’s brother and her son came from Kosrae, so it worked out so well that we got to see them too.
we had a big lunch before we head back home, some more good food that came from Kosrae like fish and taro. I feel like we were back home for a while. 🙂
Thank you Mary for the good food, great company and goodies from Kosrae.
we did some sight seeing around the area too. we went to the Japanese Garden, WSU Vancouver campus, which was pretty close to our hotel.
we spent 2 days there and it took us another 2 days to drive back home. bye Portland!
see you soon! on the way back we stopped at this beautiful waterfall right by the highway.
random pretty pix on the road
It was so nice to get out of town for a while, especially when visiting relatives or friends. hopefully our next family trip will be up soon.
Last weekend, we took an impromptu trip to the Ocean World which was about an hr and a half drive north.
Ava always the second one to awake after Tyler. This morning she suggested we make colorful pancakes, she loves helping in the kitchen esp. when the food involves food coloring and flour or anything desert like. ?
She plays with the food coloring most of the time we were making pancakes and just kept talking to me but I think she was mostly keeping herself busy. And look at these colorful good looking pancakes!
I made a cinnamon drizzle syrup or topping for it, real sweet! Real good!
And then we got on the road.
Halfway there, i wish I had a book holder in the car. ;( but my foot works just fine. I was reading Half Broke Horses, it was a good read.
Then we got there, we saw sharks, stingrays, sea lions, seals and all other kinds of fish, even get to touch squishy things.
So cool, we even got to pet sharks. Look closely at Ava’s face! ? Pretty brave!
we were led by a tour guide and toward the end of it, the seals and sea lions put on a very impressive show. From sliding to shooting hoops to jumping up 15 ft high to doing exactly what this tour guy was ordering them to do. So smart animals! We were so impressed!
And then we had to check out the gift shop, I thought this was the most cooolest gift shop I’ve been to.
Got a workout shirt for me and the girls each got something for them too.
who surfs with boots and jeans on?! 🙂 we do!
when we stopped for lunch, the restaurant was so full that the only table available was right by the men’s restroom. ahah
it was pouring rain and a lil chilly today but it was worth going on this trip. I hope someday we can see dolphins do tricks and stuff like these sea lions did.
